Volusia County now has four designated dog-friendly beach areas:

  1. Daytona Beach Dog Beach
  2. Ormond Beach Dog Beach
  3. Lighthouse Point Park
  4. Smyrna Dunes Park

Dogs must remain on leash in the beach areas and follow county rules.

Daytona Beach Dog Beach

The newer Daytona Beach Dog Beach runs approximately 1.7 miles between Williams Avenue and Seabreeze Boulevard.

Current rules require a leash, current rabies vaccination, waste cleanup, and keeping dogs away from dunes and wildlife.

Ormond Beach Dog Beach

The Ormond Beach Dog Beach runs between Rockefeller Drive and Milsap Road and is a strong option for visitors staying north of Daytona.

Lighthouse Point Park

Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet offers inlet shoreline, beach walking, nature and legal dog-friendly coastal access.

Smyrna Dunes Park

Smyrna Dunes Park sits on the south side of Ponce Inlet in New Smyrna Beach and offers boardwalks, dune views, inlet shoreline and dog-friendly beach sections.

Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park

The park includes a four-acre fenced dog park with separate large- and small-dog areas, water stations, benches and shade trees.

Halifax Humane Society Dog Park

Current tourism information highlights agility features, separate dog-size areas, shade, trails and water stations.

Riviera Oaks Dog Park

Riviera Oaks in Holly Hill provides separate size sections, fresh water and room to run.

Van Alder Dog Park

Van Alder Dog Park in Daytona Beach Shores is convenient for travelers south of central Daytona and includes shade and separate dog areas.

Barkley Square Dog Park

Barkley Square in DeLand is farther inland but much larger. Volusia County currently describes it as more than 14 acres, with separate dog areas, trees and a pond in the large-dog area.

County Rule to Know

Volusia County generally states that pets are not permitted in oceanfront or coastal parks, except where a specific dog-friendly designation applies.

Use official dog beach zones and clearly designated parks rather than assuming every beach park allows pets.

Sea Turtles and Shorebirds

Keep dogs away from turtle nests, shorebirds, dunes and conservation zones. Do not allow dogs to chase wildlife.
