Pet-Friendly Hotels: Key West, FL

Hyatt Centric, La Concha and the Fairfield - and why a 20-pound cap on Duval Street decides the trip before the pet fee does.

Updated September 7, 2026 3 min read By

Key West has pet-friendly hotels ranging from historic Old Town properties to waterfront resorts and more practical New Town hotels.

The best hotel depends on whether you want:

  • Old Town walkability
  • Waterfront atmosphere
  • Easier parking
  • Dog Beach access
  • Lower pet fees
  • A larger-dog-friendly policy

Hotel pet rules vary dramatically.

Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa

Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa is one of the strongest current waterfront options for dog travelers.

Current Hyatt policy allows:

  • One dog up to 50 pounds
  • Two dogs up to 75 pounds combined on the main property page
  • Up to two dogs with current FAQ guidance listing an 80-pound combined limit
  • $150 cleaning fee for stays of 1–6 nights
  • $300 cleaning fee for stays of 7 nights or longer

The hotel requires advance notice.

Pets are not allowed in:

  • Restaurants
  • Pool areas
  • Health club
  • Other restricted public areas

Best For

A waterfront Old Town stay where walkability matters.

La Concha Key West, Autograph Collection

La Concha sits directly on Duval Street.

Current Marriott policy lists:

  • Dogs only
  • One pet per room
  • Maximum 20 pounds
  • $150 nonrefundable pet fee per stay
  • Additional $20 nightly pet fee listed on the property page

Best For

Travelers with a small dog who want to be directly on Duval Street.

Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Key West

Fairfield currently welcomes pets.

The current policy lists:

  • One pet per room
  • $100 nonrefundable pet fee per stay
  • Restrictions may apply

Best For

A simpler, more practical Key West hotel away from the most crowded Old Town blocks.

Marriott Pet-Friendly Inventory

Marriott currently lists Key West pet-friendly properties including:

  • Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Key West
  • La Concha Key West, Autograph Collection

It also lists Florida Keys properties outside Key West.

Always check the exact property because nearby Marathon hotels are not Key West hotels.

Old Town vs. New Town

Old Town

Best for:

  • Walking
  • Duval
  • Restaurants
  • Historic Key West
  • Less driving

New Town

Best for:

  • Easier parking
  • Larger roads
  • Less nightlife noise
  • Often easier dog bathroom breaks

Larger Dogs

Key West hotel policies can be restrictive.

A 65-pound dog will not fit La Concha’s current 20-pound policy.

Hyatt Centric is much more practical for many medium-sized dogs.

Always check actual limits before booking.

Long Stays

Pet fees can become expensive.

Example:

Hyatt Centric currently charges:

  • $150 for 1–6 nights
  • $300 for 7+ nights

That is different from a hotel charging a fee every night.

Calculate the whole stay.

Pets in Public Areas

A hotel may be pet-friendly while restricting dogs from:

  • Pool
  • Restaurant
  • Beach area
  • Fitness center
  • Lobby sections

This matters in Key West because much of the resort experience happens outdoors.

Ask Whether Pets Can Stay Alone

If you plan to visit:

  • Museum
  • Indoor attraction
  • Boat excursion
  • Long dinner

ask whether the hotel allows an unattended dog.

Some properties require:

  • Crating
  • Owner contact information
  • Owner present for housekeeping

Parking Matters

Old Town parking can be expensive and difficult.

A pet-friendly hotel with easy walking may reduce how often you need the car.

In Key West, location matters almost as much as the pet fee.

If you can walk to most of the places you want to visit, the entire trip becomes easier.
