Things to Do With Pets: Naples, FL

Gordon River Greenway, Naples Dog Park, Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South - Naples without the beach.

Updated September 7, 2026 3 min read By

Naples is not a dog-beach city, but it can still be an excellent pet-friendly destination.

The best Naples experiences with a dog are built around:

  • Gordon River Greenway
  • Naples Dog Park
  • Fifth Avenue South
  • Third Street South
  • North Naples parks
  • Outdoor dining
  • Nearby regional dog-beach trips

The most important rule is simple:

Ordinary pets are not allowed on City of Naples beaches.

Walk the Gordon River Greenway

Gordon River Greenway is one of the best dog-friendly outings in Naples.

Collier County describes the greenway as a 140-acre preserve with about 2.5 miles of:

  • Asphalt trails
  • Mulch trails
  • Boardwalks

The county specifically identifies it as leashed-dog friendly.

It also connects to the Naples Dog Park.

Visit Naples Dog Park

Naples Dog Park is the city’s main designated off-leash facility.

The park includes separate large- and small-dog areas and amenities such as:

  • Shade
  • Benches
  • Drinking fountains
  • Picnic area
  • Parking
  • Greenway connection

Current city rules require each dog to have an annual dog-specific pass/tag.

The park is open dawn to dusk.

Walk Fifth Avenue South

Fifth Avenue South is one of Naples’ best dog-friendly city walks.

You can combine:

  • Shops
  • Cafes
  • Outdoor restaurants
  • Downtown atmosphere

with a leashed dog.

Individual businesses have their own pet policies.

Walk Third Street South

Third Street South offers another attractive Old Naples walking district.

This works especially well in the evening when temperatures are lower.

Visit Veterans Community Park

Veterans Community Park in North Naples includes Rover Run Dog Park.

The larger park also allows pets on leash in appropriate areas.

This can be a useful choice for visitors staying farther north.

Visit Golden Gate Community Park

Golden Gate Community Park includes:

  • Dog park
  • Paved pathways
  • Picnic areas
  • Restrooms

Current park hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Explore North Collier Regional Park

North Collier Regional Park allows pets on leash in appropriate areas and gives visitors a large inland recreation space.

This is useful for a long walk away from the beach tourism corridor.

Have Dinner Outdoors

Naples has an extensive patio dining culture.

Strong areas include:

  • Fifth Avenue South
  • Third Street South
  • Tin City
  • North Naples

See our Pet-Friendly Restaurants in Naples guide.

Take a Regional Dog-Beach Trip

Naples itself does not offer a city dog beach.

For off-leash beach time, Southwest Florida travelers often head north to:

Bonita Beach Dog Park

near Bonita Springs.

Treat it as a separate regional outing.
