Pet-Friendly Hotels: Orlando, FL

Disney has four dog-friendly resorts at $50-$75 a night. Over a week that decides the comparison - plus the off-property alternatives.

Orlando has one of the largest pet-friendly hotel inventories in the country.

Visit Orlando’s current 2026 lodging guide says the destination has hundreds of pet-friendly hotels, with options throughout:

  • Lake Buena Vista
  • International Drive
  • Downtown Orlando
  • Lake Nona
  • Winter Park
  • Airport area
  • Kissimmee

That is good news.

It also means you should choose the neighborhood first and the hotel second.

Disney’s Four Dog-Friendly Resort Hotels

Walt Disney World currently offers designated dog-friendly accommodations at four Resort hotels:

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
  • Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
  • The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort also accommodate dogs.

Disney currently allows a maximum of two dogs per guest room in designated dog-friendly rooms.

Dogs must be:

  • Well behaved
  • Properly vaccinated
  • Leashed in public areas

Current Disney policy: disneyworld.disney.go.com

Current Disney Dog Fees

Disney currently charges:

$50 per night plus tax at:

  • Art of Animation
  • Port Orleans Riverside
  • The Cabins at Fort Wilderness

and:

$75 per night plus tax at:

  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Current fee information: disneyworld.disney.go.com

For a week-long stay, that is significant.

Always include the dog fee in the total hotel comparison.

Disney Dog-Friendly Rooms Are Not Whole-Resort Pet Access

Ordinary dogs staying in dog-friendly Disney rooms are not permitted throughout most common areas.

They generally cannot enter:

  • Restaurants
  • Pools
  • Recreation areas
  • Theme parks
  • Water parks
  • Disney Springs

Dogs are expected to travel between the room and designated relief areas appropriately.

Disney currently provides designated green-space pet relief areas at the four dog-friendly resorts.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Art of Animation can work well for families already planning a Disney-centered trip.

Advantages include:

  • On-property Disney location
  • Dog-friendly room inventory
  • Designated outdoor relief areas
  • Easy access to Best Friends Pet Care

The current dog fee is $50 per night plus tax.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

Port Orleans Riverside is another good Disney option because the resort has:

  • Large grounds
  • Walking paths
  • Landscaping
  • More relaxed atmosphere than some value resorts

The dog fee is currently $50 per night plus tax.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Yacht Club is the most expensive of Disney’s current dog-friendly Resort hotel options when it comes to the pet fee.

Current dog charge:

$75 per night plus tax.

The location near EPCOT and the BoardWalk area may make that worthwhile for some families, but remember that ordinary pets still do not gain access to Disney common areas simply because they are staying there.

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness can be one of the strongest options for travelers who prefer more space.

The setting offers:

  • More room than a standard hotel room
  • Outdoor surroundings
  • Fort Wilderness atmosphere
  • Designated dog-friendly accommodations

Current dog fee:

$50 per night plus tax.

Best Friends Pet Care

Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World provides:

  • Daycare
  • Overnight boarding
  • Dog park
  • Indoor air-conditioned space
  • Covered outdoor space

Disney says the facility can accommodate up to 300 dogs, cats and small pets.

Its operating hours are designed around the theme parks.

Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotels

Disney also notes that many Good Neighbor Hotels include:

  • Pet-friendly rooms
  • Kitchenettes
  • Suites

among their available features.

That can give travelers a middle ground between staying directly on Disney property and staying far away.

International Drive Hotels

International Drive is one of the best hotel zones if your trip centers on:

  • Universal Orlando
  • SeaWorld
  • Convention Center
  • I-Drive restaurants

Visit Orlando currently highlights pet-friendly inventory throughout the I-Drive district.

The advantage is convenience.

The disadvantage is that some properties are surrounded by:

  • Parking lots
  • Busy roads
  • Limited grass

Check the actual walking situation before booking.

Lake Buena Vista Hotels

Lake Buena Vista is usually the best off-property area for:

  • Walt Disney World
  • Disney Springs
  • Theme-park-focused travel

There are many pet-friendly hotels here, but policies vary enormously.

Compare:

  • Pet fee
  • Weight limit
  • Number of pets
  • Parking
  • Resort fee
  • Unattended-pet rules

Downtown Orlando Hotels

Downtown makes more sense if your dog is a major part of the trip.

You are closer to:

  • Lake Eola
  • River and city walks
  • Dog-friendly restaurants
  • Neighborhoods

and less dependent on the tourism corridor.

Lake Nona Hotels

Lake Nona can be a strong option for:

  • Airport access
  • Modern restaurants
  • Longer stays
  • South Orlando

It’s also a better fit if your Orlando trip is not primarily about Disney.

Winter Park Hotels

Winter Park is ideal for travelers who want:

  • Walkable streets
  • Park Avenue
  • Central Park
  • Restaurants
  • Local neighborhood feel

Hotel inventory is smaller than along International Drive, but the overall dog experience can be much better.

Pet Fees Matter More in Orlando Than You Think

Orlando trips are often long.

A $50-per-night dog fee means:

7 nights = $350

before tax.

That can completely change which property is cheapest.

Ask About Maximum Number of Pets

Disney currently allows up to two dogs per designated guest room.

Other hotels may allow:

  • One pet
  • Two pets
  • Multiple pets with approval

Always ask if you’re traveling with more than one.

Ask About Species

Disney’s designated pet rooms currently allow dogs only.

If you’re traveling with a cat, you need a non-Disney pet-friendly hotel or another lodging option.

Ask Whether the Pet Can Stay Alone

This is one of the most important Orlando questions.

Theme-park days can last:

  • 8 hours
  • 10 hours
  • 12 hours

A hotel may prohibit pets from being left alone that long.

Possible rules include:

  • No unattended pets
  • Crated only
  • Owner must remain reachable
  • Time limit

If you plan full theme-park days, daycare or boarding may still be necessary.
